I want to keep a list of the movies I see in 2010. And I also want to keep a list of movies I want to see so that when I visit the movie rental store I don’t wander up and down the most recent movies and forget that there are older movies that I missed in the theater or when the were out the first time.
So here’s a beginning of a list that will no doubt get longer throughout the year.
I recently saw The Darjeeling Limited, and that made me want to see more of Wes Anderson’s films. I was happy to see our local movie rental store had the Royal Tenebaums and I’ll pick that up next time I go there.
List of 2nd best movies of the year, as printed in the Telegraph Herald.
- Up in the Air – went to see it with Sue and Leslie. It was one of our two-fer movies. See my review.
- The Hurt Locker – might be too violent for my tastes
- Nine – The other half of our two-fer movie day. My review.
- District 9 – Sci-Fi violence – not sure I’ll see this one.
- Star Trek – generally not a Trekkie so I’ll have to see.
- Adventureland – this was a New Year’s Eve rental – at 15 degrees below forecast – I had the best seat in the house. Watched it with Leslie and Justin. A much better story and movie that I ever imagined it would be from the previews when it first came out. More info on the Internet Movie Database.
- Avatar – Saw this on Jan. 13th with Sue. It was very good. Probably too much fighting for me, but overall, a worthwhile messge.
- Zombieland – wouldn’t normally be on a list of movies that I would check out, but you never know.
- 500 Days of Summer – saw it, loved it.
- Sunshine Cleaning – also saw and loved it, may be worthy of a rental to see it again. Dysfunctional family stories generally make appealing movies (IMO).
I want to see Sunshine Cleaning! And avatar was really good – just too long. Maybe a bit violent for your taste. I also sorta’ want to see District – 9. I heard it was good.
